Biography
Larry Oliver was an American actor born Clarence Oliver on 5 October 1879 in Carthage, Missouri. He died on 20 January 1973 in Englewood, New Jersey.
He originated the role of the politician Norval Hedges in the original Broadway production of Garson Kanin's Born Yesterday in 1946, appearing in 1,689 performances. He repeated the part, as Congressman Norval Hedges, in the 1950 film adaptation and as Senator Norval Hedges in the 1956 Hallmark Hall of Fame television production.
Oliver's other Broadway credits between 1930 and 1965 included Torch Song, The Farmer Takes a Wife, The Next Half Hour and A Very Rich Woman. He also appeared in television productions in the 1950s, including episodes of Schlitz Playhouse and Studio One, and in a 1967 stage revival of Born Yesterday.
