Biography
László Melis (14 August 1953 – 12 February 2018) was a Hungarian composer and violinist. He was a founding member of the new music ensemble Group 180, active from 1978 to 1990, for which he composed several works performed and recorded during that period. He also created incidental music for theatre productions and scores for animated films.
Melis composed the music for the feature films Son of Saul (2015) and Sunset (2018), both directed by László Nemes. He continued working on the score for Sunset until shortly before his death in Budapest.
