Biography
Laura Benanti is an American actress and singer. Born in New York City on 15 July 1979, she began her career on Broadway, making her debut in the 1998 revival of The Sound of Music and later winning the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her performance as Louise in the 2008 revival of Gypsy. She has received five Tony nominations in total for her stage work.
On screen, Benanti has appeared in films including Take the Lead (2006), Worth (2021), tick, tick... BOOM! (2021) and No Hard Feelings (2023), in which she played Allison Becker. Her television credits include roles in Nashville (2014–2015), Supergirl (2015–2016) as Alura Zor-El and Astra, The Detour (2017–2019) and a recurring impression of Melania Trump on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert since 2016.
