Biography
Laura Betti (née Trombetti) was an Italian actress. She began her career as a jazz singer in Rome before making her film debut in Federico Fellini's La Dolce Vita (1960).
She appeared in seven films directed by Pier Paolo Pasolini, including Theorem (1968), for which she received the Volpi Cup for Best Actress, and The Canterbury Tales (1972). Betti also worked with Bernardo Bertolucci, playing Regina in 1900 (1976), and with other directors including Mario Bava. Her later credits include Fat Girl (2001). In 2001 she directed the documentary Pier Paolo Pasolini e la ragione di un sogno.
Betti was born on 1 May 1927 in Casalecchio di Reno, Emilia-Romagna, and died on 31 July 2004 in Rome.
