Biography
Laura Hankin is an American novelist, screenwriter and actress. She graduated from Princeton University in 2010 and has written several novels, including Happy and You Know It (2020), A Special Place for Women (2021), The Daydreams (2023) and One-Star Romance (2024). She also performs sketch comedy and has contributed articles to publications such as HuffPost and McSweeney's.
Hankin wrote the story for the 2026 Netflix film Don't Say Good Luck, directed by Julia Hart, and co-wrote the screenplay with Hart and Jordan Horowitz. The film draws on her own experience as a high-school theatre student whose mother was ill with cancer. She also appears in the film in a small role as an English teacher. Her earlier acting credits include a part in the music class band in While We're Young (2014) and roles in shorts and television.
