Biography
Laurent Tirard was a French film director and screenwriter. Born on 18 February 1967 in Roubaix, he studied filmmaking at New York University and worked as a script reader for Warner Bros before returning to France as a journalist for Studio magazine, where he interviewed directors including Woody Allen and Martin Scorsese. His interviews were published as books.
Tirard made his feature debut with The Story of My Life (2004). He went on to direct and often write films including Molière (2007), Little Nicholas (2009), Nicholas on Holiday (2014), Asterix & Obelix: God Save Britannia (2012), Up for Love (2016), Return of the Hero (2018) and The Speech (2020). He also directed two episodes of the series Call My Agent! (2015). Tirard died in Paris on 5 September 2024, aged 57, after a long illness.
