Biography
Laurie Parker is a film producer. She trained in the Directors Guild of America's unit production manager and assistant director programme before joining the Samuel Goldwyn Company in the mid-1980s.
She later worked at Island Alive as vice president of marketing and then vice president of production, and at Avenue Entertainment as vice president of production from 1987. In that role she served as executive in charge of production on Gus Van Sant's Drugstore Cowboy (1989). Parker's first feature as an independent producer was Van Sant's My Own Private Idaho (1991). She subsequently produced Even Cowgirls Get the Blues (1994) and In the Cut (2003), and served as executive producer on The Rapture (1991).
In 1993 she received the Producers Guild of America award for Most Promising Producer in Theatrical Motion Pictures for My Own Private Idaho.
