Biography
Leanne Saunders is a New Zealand film producer. She began her career in the UK, working at Working Title Films on projects including Map of the Human Heart (1992) and London Kills Me (1991), and later in film sales. In 2000 she founded her own company, Severe Features.
Saunders has produced several New Zealand features, including Christmas (2003), Desert (2010), The Devil's Rock (2011), The Weight of Elephants (2013), Born to Dance (2015) and Hunt for the Wilderpeople (2016). She co-founded Piki Films with Taika Waititi and Carthew Neal. In 2016 she was appointed Head of Production and Development at the New Zealand Film Commission; she later took the same role at the South Australian Film Corporation.
