Biography
Lee Richardson was an American stage and screen actor. Born in Chicago, he trained at the Goodman Theatre after serving in the Army Air Forces during the Second World War. He co-founded the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis in 1963 and appeared in numerous Broadway and Off-Broadway productions.
Richardson was frequently cast by director Sidney Lumet. His film roles include the narrator in Network (1976), Warden Renfro in Brubaker (1980), Sam Heinsdorff in Prince of the City (1981), Dominic Prizzi in Prizzi's Honor (1985), Anton Bartok in The Fly II (1989), Leo Bloomenfeld in Q&A (1990) and the university president in The Exorcist III (1990). He also appeared in television series including Law & Order.
He received a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actor in a Play for his performance in Vivat! Vivat Regina! (1972). Richardson died in New York City in 1999.
