Biography

Lenny McLean was an English actor, unlicensed boxer and bouncer, known by the nickname 'The Guv'nor'. Born in Hoxton, London, he gained a reputation in East End bare-knuckle fighting before working as a bodyguard and in security.

He appeared in several films and television productions in the 1990s, including an uncredited role in The Krays (1990), a small part as a police chief in The Fifth Element (1997), and the recurring character Eddie Davies in the series The Knock (1996–1997). His most prominent screen role was as Barry the Baptist in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998). McLean wrote the autobiography The Guv'nor, published shortly after his death.

He died of lung and brain cancer on 28 July 1998, aged 49. The film Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels was dedicated to him.
