Biography
Leo Gullotta is an Italian actor, voice actor and comedian. Born Salvatore Leopoldo Gullotta on 9 January 1946 in Catania, Sicily, he began his career as an extra at the Teatro Massimo Bellini in his home city and later joined the Teatro Stabile di Catania.
He has appeared in around 100 films, gaining prominence with roles in Nanni Loy’s Café Express (1980) and Mi manda Picone (1983). Gullotta worked repeatedly with Giuseppe Tornatore, playing the usher in Cinema Paradiso (1988) and appearing in The Professor (1986), The Star Maker (1995) and Baaria (2009). He has received three David di Donatello awards for Best Supporting Actor and two Nastro d’Argento awards.
Gullotta has performed extensively in theatre, including with the company Il Bagaglino, and is known for voice work, notably as Manny in the first three Ice Age films and as the Italian dubber for Woody Allen and Joe Pesci.
