Biography
Leonard Chang is a Korean American writer of short stories and novels, as well as a screenwriter and television writer and executive producer. Born in Harlem, New York, he grew up on Long Island and studied philosophy at Dartmouth College and Harvard University, where he received a BA with honours; he also interned with the Peace Corps in Kingston, Jamaica.
Chang worked as a writer and producer on the FX series Justified (2013–2015), contributing story editor and staff writer credits across multiple seasons and receiving 'written by' credits on several episodes. He served as writer and executive producer on the FX series Snowfall (2017–2022) and as staff writer on the NBC series Awake (2012). He has also been showrunner and executive producer on The Vince Staples Show (2025).
As a novelist, Chang has published works including The Fruit 'N Food, Dispatches from the Cold and the noir trilogy beginning with Over the Shoulder.
