Biography
Leonard Mlodinow is an American theoretical physicist, screenwriter and author. Born in Chicago in 1954, he earned a PhD in theoretical physics from the University of California, Berkeley, and held a postdoctoral position and faculty role at the California Institute of Technology before leaving full-time academia in 1986 to pursue writing.
In the late 1980s and early 1990s he wrote episodes for several television series, including MacGyver (1987), Star Trek: The Next Generation (for which he also served as story editor), Hunter (1989) and Night Court (1990). He later returned to academic work at Caltech while writing popular science books, several of which became bestsellers, including The Drunkard's Walk (2008) and, with Stephen Hawking, The Grand Design (2010).
