Biography
Leonard White (5 November 1916 – 2 January 2016) was a British actor, director and television producer. He began his career in theatre as an actor, appearing in productions including Christopher Fry's A Sleep of Prisoners in 1951, before moving into directing and then producing for television.
In 1960 he joined ABC Weekend TV as an associate producer under Sydney Newman. White co-created The Avengers with Newman and produced its first 40 episodes from 1961, overseeing the shift from gritty crime drama to stylish espionage. His other credits include the anthology series Armchair Theatre, Police Surgeon and Out of This World.
