Biography
Leonid Kalashnikov was a Soviet and Russian cinematographer. Born in Krasnodar in 1926, he graduated from the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography (VGIK) in 1958 and joined Mosfilm in 1964.
He worked as director of photography on films including The Red Tent (1969), Stalker (1979) and Agony: The Life and Death of Rasputin (1981). Kalashnikov received the State Prize of the USSR in 1977 and was named Honoured Artist of the RSFSR in 1983. He died in Moscow in 2005.
