Biography
Leora Dana was an American film, stage and television actress. Born in New York City, she graduated from Barnard College and trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. She made her stage debut in London in 1947 and her Broadway debut the following year in The Madwoman of Chaillot.
Dana appeared in supporting roles in films including 3:10 to Yuma (1957) as Alice Evans, Kings Go Forth (1958) and Some Came Running (1958) as Agnes Hirsh, Pollyanna (1960), The Boston Strangler (1968) and Tora! Tora! Tora! (1970). On television she had roles in series such as Alfred Hitchcock Presents and played Sylvie Kosloff in the soap opera Another World. She won a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play in 1973 for The Last of Mrs. Lincoln and received the Clarence Derwent Award for her Broadway work.
Dana was married to actor Kurt Kasznar from 1950 until their divorce in 1958. She died of cancer in New York City on 13 December 1983, aged 60.
