Biography
Lesley Barber is a Canadian composer, orchestrator, conductor and pianist. She trained at the University of Toronto, where she earned a master's degree in music composition in 1988, and began her career scoring more than twenty productions for the alternative theatre scene in Toronto.
She is known for her film scores for Manchester by the Sea (2016) and You Can Count on Me (2000), both directed by Kenneth Lonergan, as well as Mansfield Park (1999), Hysterical Blindness (2002), When Night Is Falling (1995) and the animated series Little Bear. Other credits include Late Night (2019), Nappily Ever After (2018), Irreplaceable You (2018), The Moth Diaries (2011) and Bonjour Tristesse (2024). Barber has also composed for documentaries such as How to Change the World and for Yo-Yo Ma's Inspired by Bach series. In 2016 she was the first woman featured on The Hollywood Reporter's Composer Roundtable.
