Biography

Liane Aukin was a British actress and writer. Born in London on 17 August 1936, she trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and began her career on stage and in television, with early roles including appearances in The Avengers (1961) and The Phantom of the Opera (1962).

She later wrote extensively for television, contributing scripts to 20 episodes of EastEnders between 1985 and 1996, as well as one episode of Minder (1991) and the screenplay for the mini-series The Mushroom Picker (1993). Aukin also directed stage productions, notably Christopher Logue’s War Music at the Almeida Theatre. In later life she qualified as a psychotherapist and maintained a private practice in London. She died on 18 August 2016.
