Biography
Lill Roughley was an English actress who appeared in British television and film from the 1970s. She was born Lilian Margaret Roughley on 9 July 1949 in Prescot, Lancashire.
Roughley had early roles in series including Tales of the Unexpected (1979) and collaborated frequently with Victoria Wood on BBC comedy programmes such as Victoria Wood: As Seen on TV (1985–87) and Dinnerladies (1998). Her film credits include Brassed Off (1996), in which she played Rita. She is also known for playing Alice in Mulberry (1992) and Ella Dawkins in the sitcom My Hero (2000–2006). Other appearances include A Touch of Frost, Absolutely Fabulous and Heartbeat.
Roughley died on 9 September 2025.
