Biography
Lillian Roth, also credited as Lillian Rutstein, was an American singer and actress. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, she made her Broadway debut at the age of six and attended the Professional Children's School in New York City. She appeared in vaudeville and stage revues before signing with Paramount Pictures.
Roth featured in early sound films including The Love Parade (1929) as Lulu, Animal Crackers (1930), The Vagabond King (1930), Honey (1930) and Madame Satan (1930). Her later screen roles included Ladies They Talk About (1933) and Alice, Sweet Alice (1976). Her autobiography I'll Cry Tomorrow (1954) was adapted into a 1955 film starring Susan Hayward.
