Biography
Diana Lin, also credited as Xiaojie Lin or Lin Xiao Jie (Chinese: 林晓杰), is a Chinese-Australian actress. She is known for her role as Lu Jian in the 2019 film The Farewell.
Born in 1962 in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, China, Lin trained from the age of 14 with the Chinese Beijing Opera Company before studying acting at the Shanghai Theatre Academy. She began her career in Chinese film and television in the 1980s, including roles in Women's Story (1989). She migrated to Australia in the early 1990s and appeared in the anthology series Under the Skin (1993), for which she received an AFI Award nomination.
After a hiatus, Lin returned to acting in the Australian comedy series The Family Law (2016–2019), earning Equity Ensemble Awards. Her later credits include The Portable Door (2023), The Long Season (2023), Big World (2024) and Interior Chinatown (2024).
