Biography
Linda Cristal (born Marta Victoria Moya Peggo Burges) was an Argentine-American actress. Born on 23 February 1931 in Rosario, Santa Fe Province, Argentina, she studied at the Conservatorio Franklin in Uruguay before beginning her career in Mexican films in the early 1950s. She made her Hollywood debut in Comanche (1956) and appeared in Westerns including The Perfect Furlough (1958), for which she won a Golden Globe Award for New Star of the Year.
Cristal played Flaca in John Wayne’s The Alamo (1960) and Elena de la Madriaga in Two Rode Together (1961). She starred as Victoria Cannon in the NBC series The High Chaparral (1967–1971), winning the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Television Series Drama in 1970 and receiving two Emmy nominations. She also appeared in Bonanza, Mr. Majestyk (1974) and The Love Boat. Cristal died on 27 June 2020 in Beverly Hills, California.
