Biography
Linda Day was an American television director who worked primarily on situation comedies. Born Linda Gail Brickner in Los Angeles, she was the daughter of film editor Roy Brickner. She began her career as a script supervisor on the 1976 television film Victory at Entebbe and the series Soap, later serving as an associate director on WKRP in Cincinnati before directing episodes of the show from 1980.
Day directed more than 350 episodes across 50 series. Her credits include the pilot and 32 further episodes of Married... with Children (1987), as well as episodes of St. Elsewhere (1982), Dallas (1978), Who's the Boss? (1984), The Facts of Life (1979), Diff'rent Strokes (1978), The Nanny (1993), Sabrina, the Teenage Witch (1996) and Reba (2001). She received a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series, a Humanitas Prize, and was honoured by the Directors Guild of America for her work advancing opportunities for women in television. She died in Georgetown, Texas, in 2009.
