Biography
Lisa Lutz is an American author and screenwriter. She grew up in Southern California and attended the University of California, Santa Cruz, UC Irvine, the University of Leeds and San Francisco State University without completing a degree. In the 1990s she held various jobs while writing screenplays; her mob comedy Plan B was produced as a film in 2001.
Lutz is best known for the New York Times bestselling Spellman Files series of novels, beginning with The Spellman Files (2007), which won an Alex Award. She has also written the novels The Passenger (2016), The Swallows and The Accomplice. She joined the writing staff of the HBO series The Deuce (2017), created by David Simon and George Pelecanos, contributing as a writer and story editor. She later worked on the series Dare Me (2020).
