Biography
Liu Chi-Yu, also credited as Lau Kwai-Yau or 劉季友, was a Hong Kong costume designer active from the mid-1960s to the mid-1980s. He worked primarily on Shaw Brothers productions and is credited with costume design or wardrobe on more than 250 films.
His credits include The 36th Chamber of Shaolin (1978), The Five Venoms (1978), Return to the 36th Chamber (1980), Five Element Ninjas (1982), The 8 Diagram Pole Fighter (1984) and Disciples of the 36th Chamber (1985). He received Golden Horse Awards for best costumes for Tiger Killer (1982) and An Amorous Woman of Tang Dynasty (1984), with a further nomination for the latter film.
