Biography
Lois Scott was an American activist and participant in the 1973 Brookside Mine strike in Harlan County, Kentucky. She appeared as herself in the 1976 documentary Harlan County U.S.A., directed by Barbara Kopple, which covered the strike against the Eastover Mining Company.
Scott was born on 3 November 1929 in Benham, Harlan County. She was a miner's wife who took an active role on the picket lines and in community efforts during the strike. She died on 15 May 2004 in Harlan County.
