Biography
Lonny Chapman (1920–2007) was an American actor. Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, he grew up in Joplin, Missouri, attended Joplin Junior College and the University of Oklahoma, and served in the US Marine Corps during the Second World War.
Chapman began his career on Broadway, with roles in Come Back, Little Sheba (1950) and other plays. His film appearances include Deke Carter in The Birds (1963), as well as parts in East of Eden (1955), Baby Doll (1956) and Norma Rae (1979). He had numerous guest roles on television series including Murder, She Wrote, The A-Team, McCloud and NYPD Blue.
In 1973 he founded the Group Repertory Theatre in North Hollywood and served as its artistic director until his death; the company was later renamed the Lonny Chapman Group Repertory Theatre.
