Biography
Lorenzo Mongiardino (also known as Renzo Mongiardino) was an Italian architect, interior designer and production designer. Born in Genoa in 1916, he trained in architecture at the Politecnico di Milano and began working in theatre and film set design from the late 1950s, often in collaboration with Franco Zeffirelli.
His film credits include production design on The Taming of the Shrew (1967), Romeo and Juliet (1968) and Brother Sun, Sister Moon (1972). He received Academy Award nominations for Best Art Direction for the first and third of these films. He died in Milan in 1998.
