Biography
Lothaire Bluteau is a Canadian actor born on 14 April 1957 in Montreal, Quebec. He studied medicine before enrolling at the Conservatoire de musique et d'art dramatique du Québec and has performed in both French and English.
Bluteau began in theatre and gained recognition for his stage work, including the lead in Being at Home with Claude. His film breakthrough came with the role of Daniel Coulombe in Denys Arcand's Jesus of Montreal (1989), for which he won the Genie Award for Best Actor. He has appeared in films such as Black Robe (1991) and Orlando (1992), in which he played The Khan. His television credits include recurring roles in 24 (as Marcus Alvers), The Tudors and Vikings (as Emperor Charles).
