Biography
Lou Gilbert (1909–1978) was an American character actor who worked in theatre, film and television. Born in Illinois, he began his career in Chicago repertory theatre before moving to New York in 1945, where he appeared in more than a dozen Broadway productions.
On screen he played Pablo in Viva Zapata! (1952), the grandfather in Juliet of the Spirits (1965), Goldie in The Great White Hope (1970) and Rosenbaum in Marathon Man (1976). He also appeared in Raid on Entebbe (1976) and episodes of Kojak. Gilbert won the Clarence Derwent Award in 1948 for his stage performance in Hope Is the Thing With Feathers.
