Biography
Lou Jacobi, born Louis Harold Jacobovitch, was a Canadian actor and comedian. He was born in Toronto on 28 December 1913 and began acting as a child, making his stage debut in 1924 in a Yiddish theatre production in Toronto. He later worked in London's West End before his Broadway debut in 1955 as Hans van Daan in The Diary of Anne Frank.
Jacobi reprised the role in the 1959 film version. His other film credits include Irma la Douce (1963), Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex But Were Afraid to Ask (1972), Arthur (1981), My Favorite Year (1982) and Avalon* (1990). He also appeared in television series and was inducted into Canada's Walk of Fame in 1999. Jacobi died in New York on 23 October 2009.
