Biography
Louis Mellis is a Scottish screenwriter and former actor from Edinburgh. He worked in various jobs including rat-catcher, zookeeper and chef before training at drama school and pursuing acting until 1991, when he turned to writing.
With writing partner David Scinto he created a trilogy of gangster-themed works originally conceived as stage plays and inspired by paintings: Gangster No. 1 (2000), for which they provided the original story; Sexy Beast (2000), which they wrote as a screenplay in three weeks; and 44 Inch Chest (2009), on which Mellis also served as producer. The pair later parted ways professionally.
