Biography
Louis Ravet was a French actor of theatre and silent cinema. Born Henri Louis Ravet on 14 June 1870 in Paris, he began his stage career at the Odéon before becoming a pensionnaire at the Comédie-Française for twenty years, where he appeared in classical roles.
Ravet entered film in 1908 and accumulated numerous credits, often in supporting parts. He is known for portraying Jean Beaupère in Carl Theodor Dreyer's The Passion of Joan of Arc (1928). Other notable appearances include L'Hirondelle et la Mésange (1924) and L'Arlésienne (1922), both directed by André Antoine. He also worked as a cinematographer on at least one production.
Ravet died on 7 April 1933 in Joinville-le-Pont, Val-de-Marne, France.
