Biography
Louise Hampton (23 December 1879 – 10 February 1954) was a British actress. Born in Stockport, Cheshire, she was the daughter of actor Henry Hampton. She made her stage debut at the age of four and built a career in the West End, appearing in plays including The Silver Box (1922), Secrets (1922), The Importance of Being Earnest (1923) and For Services Rendered (1932). She was often cast in elderly, motherly roles.
Hampton appeared in occasional films from 1919. Her screen credits include Mrs. Wickett in Goodbye, Mr. Chips (1939), the Laundress in Scrooge (1951) and Tyb in The Story of Robin Hood and His Merrie Men (1952). She was married to actor Edward Thane.
