Biography

Lu Wei is a Chinese film screenwriter, also credited as Wei Lu. Born on 17 March 1950 in Beijing, he grew up in Xi'an and entered the film industry at Xi'an Film Studio in the 1970s, initially working as a scenic painter before beginning screenwriting in the early 1980s.

He is credited with the screenplays for Farewell My Concubine (1993), To Live (1994), The Emperor's Shadow (1996), Tuya's Marriage (2006) and Wolf Totem (2015). Lu Wei also directed Journey to Western Xia Empire (1997) and has published books drawing on his screenwriting experience.
