Biography
Luciano Tovoli is an Italian cinematographer and filmmaker. He was born on 30 October 1936 in Massa Marittima, Grosseto, and studied at the University of Pisa and the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia.
Tovoli has photographed films including The Passenger (1975), Suspiria (1977), Tenebre (1982), Reversal of Fortune (1990), Single White Female (1992), The Dinner Game (1998) and Murder by Numbers (2002). He has collaborated with directors such as Michelangelo Antonioni, Dario Argento, Barbet Schroeder and Francis Veber. In 1983 he directed and co-wrote Il Generale dell'armata morte.
Tovoli is a member of the American Society of Cinematographers and the Italian Society of Cinematographic Photography Authors, and an honorary member of the Swedish Society of Cinematographers and the European Federation of Cinematographers.
