Biography

Luis de Icaza, also credited as Luis Augusto Sánchez de Icaza, was a Mexican actor. He appeared as Mateo Mateos in Alfonso Cuarón's Sólo con tu pareja (1991). His other film roles include the tango student in Cronos (1993), Ramon in Revenge (1990), Alcalde Alfredo García in Herod's Law (1999) and Nerón in Sex, Shame & Tears (1999).

De Icaza joined the National Actors Association (ANDA) in 1985 and signed a contract with Televisa the following year. He worked extensively in Mexican television, including telenovelas such as Lazos de amor (1995–1996) and Rayito de luz (2000). In 2000 he received an Ariel Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor for Ave María (1999).

He died of a heart attack on 13 March 2001 in Mexico City, aged 47, on the day the children's telenovela Aventuras en el tiempo (in which he played Kent Wolf) was presented to the press; the production was dedicated to his memory.
