Biography
Luis de Pablo (28 January 1930 – 10 October 2021) was a Spanish composer of contemporary classical music. Born in Bilbao, he studied law at the Complutense University of Madrid before turning to composition, largely self-taught but with studies in Paris and attendance at the Darmstadt courses.
He composed the scores for several Spanish films of the 1960s and 1970s, including The Hunt (1966), Peppermint Frappé (1967), Anna and the Wolves (1973) and The Spirit of the Beehive (1973). In parallel he founded ensembles and concert series to promote modern music in Spain, published writings on the Second Viennese School, and received the Premio Nacional de Música.
