Biography
Luisa Merelas is a Spanish actress from A Coruña, Galicia. She trained in dramatic arts at the Institut de Teatre in Barcelona and began her career in Galician television and theatre in the late 1980s.
She is known for her role as Carme Torreiro Folgar in the television series Matalobos (2009–2012) and as Madre Anta in the film The Beasts (2022). Other screen credits include Elisa & Marcela (2019), Sister Death (2023) as Mother Superior, and Live Is Life (2022). She has also worked as a voice actor in dubbing.
Merelas has received theatre awards including the Maruxa Villanueva Prize (2007) and María Casares Awards for best leading actress (2007) and best supporting actress (2013). In 2023 she was awarded the Premio Cinema Galego.
