Biography

Luiz Elias is a Brazilian film editor. He began working in the industry in the late 1950s as an assistant editor on films including Arara Vermelha (1957) and later edited the television series O Vigilante Rodoviário (1959–1962). He was a disciple of editor José Cañizares.

Elias has edited more than 30 Brazilian feature films and television productions. His credits include the José Mojica Marins (Coffin Joe) films At Midnight I'll Take Your Soul (1964), This Night I'll Possess Your Corpse (1967) and The Awakening of the Beast (1970), as well as Pixote (1980) directed by Héctor Babenco and the documentary Pelé Eterno (2004). He is sometimes credited as Luis Elias.
