Biography
Luke Davies is an Australian writer of poetry, novels and screenplays. Born in Sydney in 1962, he studied arts at the University of Sydney. He began publishing poetry in the early 1980s and later wrote the novel Candy (1997), which he adapted with Neil Armfield for the 2006 film of the same name.
Davies wrote the screenplay for the 2016 film Lion, for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay. His other screenwriting credits include Life (2015), Beautiful Boy (2018), News of the World (2020) and the television series Catch-22 (2019). He is credited as screenwriter and producer on the 2026 film Tenzing.
