Biography
Mackenzie Phillips is an American actress and singer. Born Laura Mackenzie Phillips on 10 November 1959 in Alexandria, Virginia, she is the daughter of musician John Phillips of The Mamas & the Papas. She attended Highland Hall Waldorf School in California.
Phillips began her acting career with the role of Carol Morrison in George Lucas's American Graffiti (1973). She gained prominence as Julie Cooper Horvath in the sitcom One Day at a Time (1975–1984) and later played Molly Phillips in the Disney Channel series So Weird (1999–2001). Other credits include Orange Is the New Black (2013–2019) as Barbara Denning and The Jacket (2005). She has also performed with a revival of The Mamas & the Papas and written the memoir High on Arrival (2009).
