Biography
Maddie Dai is a New Zealand screenwriter and cartoonist. She wrote one episode of the BBC series The Other Bennet Sister (2026), an adaptation of Janice Hadlow’s novel starring Ella Bruccoleri as Mary Bennet.
Dai’s feature screenplay We Were Dangerous (2024) was produced by Piki Films and premiered at SXSW. Earlier credits include the short Ministry of Jingle (2023), which she also directed, and writers’ room work on the second seasons of Our Flag Means Death and The Power. She has contributed cartoons to The New Yorker since 2017 and is based in London.
