Biography
Madeleine Barbulée (born Marie-Madeleine Eugénie Barbulée) was a French actress. She was born on 2 September 1910 in Nancy, Meurthe-et-Moselle, and died on 1 January 2001 in Paris. She trained at the École nationale supérieure d'art de Nancy and began her career in the theatre in the mid-1930s.
Barbulée appeared in around 150 stage productions, including several premieres of plays by Jean Anouilh, and in more than 300 films and television programmes between 1948 and 2000. Her film roles include the Red Cross nun in René Clément's Forbidden Games (1952), Sister Simplice in Les Misérables (1958), and parts in The Earrings of Madame de... (1953), The Day of the Jackal (1973) and The Miser (1980).
