Biography
Madhuri Shekar is an American playwright and screenwriter. She holds an MFA in dramatic writing from the University of Southern California and graduated from the Lila Acheson Wallace American Playwrights Program at Juilliard. She also earned a dual master’s degree in global media and communications from the London School of Economics and USC.
Her screen credits include writing the 2020 Amazon Prime film Evil Eye, adapted from her own Audible audio drama that won a 2020 Audie Award. She served as a staff writer on the HBO series The Nevers (2021) and as a writer and story editor on the Netflix series 3 Body Problem (2024). Her play A Nice Indian Boy was adapted into a 2024 film. She has received the Lanford Wilson Playwriting Award and the Steinberg Playwriting Award, and her plays have been produced across the United States and internationally.
