Biography
Mag Bodard (1916–2019) was an Italian-born French film and television producer. Born Margherita Maria Renata Perato in Turin, she worked as a journalist for the magazine Elle before entering film production. She founded the production company Parc Film in 1963.
She produced Jacques Demy’s The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (1964), which won the Palme d’Or at Cannes, and Robert Bresson’s Au Hasard Balthazar (1966). Other notable credits include Happiness (1965), The Young Girls of Rochefort (1967), Je T'Aime, Je T'Aime (1968), Naked Childhood (1969), A Gentle Woman (1969) and Donkey Skin (1970). She later produced extensively for television, with her final credit in 2006.
Bodard promoted the work of several emerging directors and received a documentary portrait, Mag Bodard, un destin, in 2005.
