Biography
Magnolia Maymuru is an Aboriginal Australian actress and model from the Yolŋu community. Born in Yirrkala in the Northern Territory on 10 December 1996, she was first scouted as a model in 2014 while still at school. She later entered the fashion industry and, at the age of 19, became the first Aboriginal woman from the Northern Territory to reach the national finals of Miss World Australia.
Maymuru made her screen debut as Lowanna in Jennifer Kent’s 2018 film The Nightingale. For the role she received the AACTA Award for Best Supporting Actress. Subsequent credits include High Ground (2020), The Legend of Molly Johnson (2021) and the television series The Australian Wars (2022).
