Biography
Makhouredia Gueye, born Mamadou Guèye, was a Senegalese actor in film, theatre and television. He began his stage career in 1945 and was also a saxophonist. He is known for repeated collaborations with director Ousmane Sembène.
Gueye played Ibrahima Dieng in Mandabi (1968), the president in Xala (1975), and King Demba War Thioub in Ceddo (1977). His other film credits include Lambaaye (1972), Garga M'Bossé (1975), Jom ou l'histoire d'un peuple (1981), Hyènes (1992) and Mossane (1996). He appeared in Senegalese television productions such as Xalima Mame Yalla (1981).
Gueye died on 6 April 2008 in Dakar.
