Biography
Malcolm Atterbury, also credited as Malcolm MacLeod Atterbury, was an American stage, film and television actor and vaudevillian. Born in Philadelphia, he began in radio as a singer and programme director before moving into vaudeville and stage work. He trained at Hilda Spong's Dramatic School and later owned and operated theatres in New York state.
Atterbury appeared in numerous films from the mid-1950s onwards, including I Was a Teenage Werewolf (1957), North by Northwest (1959), Rio Bravo (1959) as Jake, Wild River (1960), Advise and Consent (1962), The Birds (1963) and Emperor of the North (1973). On television he had guest roles in series such as The Twilight Zone, Bonanza, The Andy Griffith Show and Perry Mason, and appeared on Broadway in the original cast of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.
