Biography
Malorie Blackman is a British writer of children's and young adult fiction and television drama. Born on 8 February 1962 in Merton, London, she studied at the National Film and Television School after working as a systems programmer. She has written more than 60 books, including the Noughts & Crosses series, which began in 2001.
Blackman served as Children's Laureate from 2013 to 2015. In 2018 she co-wrote the Doctor Who episode Rosa for series 11. She received an OBE for services to children's literature and was made a dame in 2026.
